SplashLearn Update

As you know, the students have been using the educational program SplashLearn to supplement their math learning since January when we were in remote learning. We often use SplashLearn during school hours, and there are always additional assignments on SplashLearn that students can work on at home. Students have been encouraged to keep up with their SplashLearn assignments… and many have risen to the challenge. For example, students were instructed to complete the various money assignments at SplashLearn in preparation for last week’s Financial Literacy Unit Test. Besides doing home assignments, your child can develop math fluency through regular practice at home. I just sent an email to parents which gives instructions on how you can see your child’s progress at SplashLearn and track your child’s learning.

Please continue to encourage your child to work on SplashLearn assignments regularly at home. Your involvement will no doubt boost your child’s confidence and accelerate the pace of learning.

With regards to the recent Financial Literacy Test, I will be ending these marked tests home for you to review (a few students need additional time to complete the test.. so the marked tests may come home as late as Tuesday of this week). Students should make any corrections they have to make as well. Please sign the rubric and return it and the test to me to indicate that you have seen the test.

Also, our class is participating in SpringBoard 2021, an annual math challenge that turns year-end math practice into a fun 10-week competition that students absolutely love! SpringBoard takes place on SplashLearn and will run from 1 March – 9 May (we’re a little late starting… but I think my students will be enthusiastic enough to make up for lost time!). While we’ll be participating mostly during class, I’ll also be giving additional assignments on SplashLearn that students can work on at home and earn extra points for their class!
