I am not sending home the homework duotangs this week. Instead, all students should use this week to prepare an EXTRA, EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT presentation for Mon., Feb. 3rd. Please help your child scour the newspaper, magazines, or the Internet for an important article or news item that relates to them and that they feel comfortable and excited about sharing with their classmates! For the presentation, students are asked to give a retell of the main idea of their article. They should also talk about why they chose the article, how the article affects them, and how they feel about what was said in the article. The presentation should only last a few minutes. However, students are encouraged to be well-prepared and rehearsed, and the ideas they present should demonstrate that they read and understood the article they chose to present. Your child may want to put their information on a poster (though this is not mandatory). Here are a couple of examples below (we went through these as a class today) :
