In Science, we have been learning about strong and stable structures. Last week, we have had a chance to look at Famous Structures found all over the world!
As a class we looked at the following Famous Structures:
– CN Tower in Canada
– Eiffel Tower in France
– Sydney Opera House in Australia
– Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt
– Taj Mahal in India
– Statue of Liberty in the U.S.A.
– Stonehenge in England
– Petra in Jordan
– The Colosseum in Italy
– Great Wall of China in China
– Christ the Redeemer in Brazil
There will be no Homework Duotang this week. Instead, students are being asked to research a Famous Structure at home and present their findings to the class. I am asking students to choose a structure that we haven’t already talked about in class. The structure can be a famous building, bridge, monument, statue, etc. (A good starting place in selecting their structure would be to check out the links on this blog under Science – Famous Structures) They can use the purple sheet that I am sending home tonight in their agenda to gather information about their Famous Structure. You can also find a copy of this worksheet here:
Famous Structures Assignment-19p4y6x
Students will be presenting their work in the form of a news report. Students will be a pretending to be a news reporter and pretending that their Famous Structure has just been discovered! They are encouraged to bring in pictures of their famous structure to show the class and/or use props to add to their presentation.
Students will present their Famous Structure on Mon.. Jan. 28th so please make sure your child is prepared and brings in any materials they need.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks for your support!
